Get an early start on summer (a little wishful thinking never hurt anyone, right?) with Bay Area organizations blending creativity and sustainability for all to enjoy, rain or shine. Play at a mini-edition of Sunday Streets, complete with lawn bowling, hula hooping, and dancing. In honor of Earth Day this week, create something amazing from reclaimed materials provided by creative reuse center SCRAP. Meet the organizers of the Wigg Party, whose mission is to make the community that uses the bike route known as “the Wiggle” a leader in sustainability and resilience, and stop by Hot Bike! to see how innovative bike-powered appliances make this a sustainable business. Sample Hot Bike’s salsas and beverages, and try seasonal produce fresh from the fields of Earl’s Organic Produce. Then catch a screening of “Next Meal,” a KQED documentary on the hot topic of genetically engineered food. In the planetarium, catch a live Earth Update at 6:30, followed by screenings of Fragile Planet at 7:30 and 8:30. Music by DJ Sep.
