Program Description

What are Classroom Kits?

Kits are portable suitcases filled with all the materials you need to do fun, engaging science activities in your classroom. They include complete lesson plans plus background information on the topic. Hands-on activities, educational games, books, DVDs, and more provide a range of exciting learning opportunities.

Who are they for?

Classroom Kits are for K-12 students.

How can I become eligible to rent one?

Teachers are required to attend a workshop to become eligible to borrow the kits. At the workshop, you will be able to try out all the kit activities, explore the kit materials, and learn all about the content.

Okay, I'm trained in my preferred kit. How can I reserve it today?

Call (877) 227-3311 to make a kit reservation. Once the kit is reserved, you can pick it up at the California Academy of Sciences and return it to us 3 weeks later. The lending fee is $25 for three weeks.

Do the kits support any standards?

Yes.  Many of our kit curricula can support teachers in their implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Kit science content supports the Disciplinary Core Ideas, and the Science and Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts are brought to life through engaging opportunities for hands-on learning. We are in the process of updating each kit for the NGSS.
