April 29th is Astronomy Day!

Since 1973, one day on a Spring weekend near the first quarter Moon has been set aside as a day to celebrate astronomy, stargazing, and space science.  This year, Astronomy Day falls on Saturday, April 29, and several organizations are converging on the Academy to share their love of the sky with visitors, with informative displays, activities, and crafts from 10am-4pm...and they LOVE talking about astronomy!

Events & programs include:

  • Showings of "Incoming!," the award-winning "Habitat Earth," and "Tour of the Universe" in Morrison Planetarium
  • "Hubble's Hits" in Hohfeld Hall
  • Safe solar observing on the Living Roof (weather-permitting), courtesy of the Space Station Museum and Academy Docents
  • Astronomy videos in the Naturalist Center
  • "Interstellar Storytime" for little astronomers at Science Today at 10:15 am & 3:15 pm.
