Earth Month Competition

This April, the SFUSD Sustainability Office will launch its first Earth Month Competition to encourage SFUSD students, staff, and parents to engage with sustainability resources available in the community.

Update: Competition resumes during the 2017-2018 school year!

Based on a successful competition in April 2017, the SFUSD Sustainability Office has created the Earth Day Every Day Challenge to run from August 2017 through April 2018.

The Competition

The Earth Month Competition is open to K-12 schools in the San Francisco Unified School District. Schools compete against other schools in their Supervisor's district by engaging in "green" activities, and the Sustainability Office awards points for activities completed. The school in each Supervisor's district with the most points wins a cash prize of $700 or more!

Participating schools will learn about ways to reduce their environmental footprints through water conservation, energy reduction, waste prevention, sustainable transportation, and eco-literacy.
