What is the MOSAiC Expedition?

On September 20, 2019, one of the most extensive research expeditions in the Central Arctic ever conducted will begin when the Polarstern icebreaker sets out to freeze itself in Arctic sea ice for a year. More than 500 scientists from 19 nations will participate in the MOSAiC expedition to explore the Arctic climate system.
