The Academy to host SuperNatural Halloween 2016

Annual Halloween event will take place on October 28.

SAN FRANCISCO (October 7, 2016) – The California Academy of Sciences once again invites families to grab their costumes and have a ghostly good time while trick-or-treating through the Academy at night. Among spooktacular animals and spine-tingling specimens, the Academy presents SuperNatural Halloween 2016, an annual fundraiser co-chaired by Kate Harbin Clammer, Jane Gruber, Jessica Moment, Lindsay Ramsay, and Summer Tompkins Walker.

Guests can catch a special live animal demonstration, marvel at roaming magicians, and transform into their favorite Academy animals with the help of festive face painters. Plus, they will get the chance to experience the Academy after dark with a giant pumpkin carving demonstration, magic shows, touchable specimens, and a live DJ playing kid-friendly dance hits—all under one living roof.

Costumes are encouraged and children will receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag to haul their candy loot as they explore hands-on Halloween arts and crafts around the museum. Guests are invited to step into a photobooth to capture all of the fun and enjoy a special live presentation of “A Haunted Tour of the Night Sky” in the planetarium, led by an Academy presenter.

General admission tickets (for 6:30 pm entry) are $50 for adults, $35 for children; children age 1 and younger are free. Family VIP benefactor tickets are also available (from $85-$2,500) and include special VIP lounge, early family entry, exclusive dinner catering, a future behind-the-scenes tour of the museum, and more.
