Volunteers for Nature

Volunteers for Nature is an all-new program from the California Academy of Sciences that connects college students and early career professionals with nature-based volunteer opportunities across the Bay Area. Whether you’re aiming for a career in conservation or just eager to get your hands dirty, participants can look forward to:

• Building community with peers in a local chapter
• Volunteering together at a partner site once a month
• Gaining hands-on experience in the field of conservation

Who’s eligible College students and early career professionals in the Bay Area who love nature, the outdoors, meeting new people, and being a force for good. 

What to expect Participation in one hybrid chapter meeting and one group volunteer outing per month, totaling about five hours per month. We also encourage participants to pursue individual volunteer projects with partner organizations.

Who’s eligible Bay Area nonprofit or governmental organizations that work in conservation and are able to provide effective supervision and safe spaces for volunteers.

What to expect Every month, we rotate through various partner sites, bringing a team of volunteers directly to your location at least once per cycle. Partners will enjoy access to student and early career communities—and a pipeline of potential future employees.
